Center For AIDS Research at Brown University

The Lifespan/Tufts/Brown Center for AIDS Research (CFAR) is a joint research effort between Tufts and Brown Universities and their affiliated hospitals and centers. The CFAR is part of a national program begun by the National Institutes of Health in 1988. There are currently 20 Centers for AIDS Research (CFARs) located at academic medical centers throughout the United States.

Brown University AIDS Program

The Brown University AIDS Program (BRUNAP) is the educational arm of the Brown AIDS Center. It is nationally and internationally known as a center for training researchers and clinicians in AIDS-related disciplines. Its grant from HRSA allows it to serve as a regional training site for physicians and nurses in areas ranging from how take a sexual history to molecular virology to current advances in anti-HIV chemotherapy. With NIH funding, our faculty are training lab and clinical people from overseas - primarily from South East Asia - through the Fogarty Fellows program at The Miriam Hospital.

Brown/Tufts/Miriam Fogarty AIDS International Training and Research Program (AITRP)

Brown University, Tufts University and the Miriam Hospital operate the Fogarty AIDS International Training and Research Program (AITRP), funded since 1993 by the National Institutes of Health-Fogarty International Center (D43-TW000237). The Brown/Tufts/Miriam AITRP currently works with trainees from Cambodia, India, Indonesia, Kenya and the Philippines
